Lisa & Alan Baker — Living Trust

Lisa and Alan Baker have made it a priority to "spread the word" about supporting New West Symphony wherever they go. They practice what they preach having both served in volunteer roles for the past 10-15 years. Lisa recalls helping with hospitality as a league member at the "Meet the Artist" gatherings and posting flyers at libraries and senior centers. Alan continues to serve on the Symphony's Finance committee after an initial introduction by his friend and former Treasurer Harry Croner. As season ticket holders, they love sharing their concert experiences at dinner time with friends at University Village - marveling at the innovation of the latest performance, grateful to have a premier culturally enriching option so accessible to them.

Alan's love for classical music was well established in his early years at home where his parents had an extensive record collection and used to take him and his brother to the Pops. Lisa has always loved all types of music and sees the value of keeping classical music alive for audiences of all ages, not just seniors. They both light up when they talk about a former "Discovery Artist" program graduate and internationally recognized award-winning pianist Sean Chen, whom the Symphony gave some rare opportunities to perform with the professional orchestra before he became a Van Cliburn competition medalist. They hope to attract more youth like Sean to consider classical music as a fulfilling outlet and career option.

Lisa and Alan are happy to serve as role models by sharing their wishes with other current subscribers and music lovers. They would like everyone to note how "valuable it is to make one's legacy intentions known now to ensure that a culturally rich environment remains available locally." They also find comfort in knowing that their daughters will be able to continue their tradition of charitable giving as a family legacy.
